Unblur a Photo

AI removes camera-shake blur and soft focus, bringing back sharpness and detail. Processing runs locally on our own hardware, your photos never go to the cloud.

Unblur a photo

Upload a blurry shot — the AI restores edge sharpness and fine detail. Then fine-tune the picture with the sliders below if you like.

    Removing blur...
Tip: moderate motion blur or slight misfocus is what fixes best. A heavily blurred or very small photo cannot be fully restored, so upload the original at full size.

Heavy blur or a critical shot? Manual touch-up

If the shot is very heavily blurred or the subject lost focus entirely, AI can only do so much. The gdefoto team restores sharpness and local detail by hand in Photoshop. From $4 per photo.

      Before and after: blur removed

Blurry photo made sharp, detail recovered by AI Original blurry photo before sharpening

Drag the slider to compare the blurry original with the sharpened version. Detail recovered by AI. A real result from this tool.

      When it helps

      • Motion blur from shaky hands or a moving camera
      • Slight focus miss that leaves the shot soft
      • Low-light phone photos that came out smeared
      • Action shots: kids, pets, sports
      • Scans and old photos that lost their sharpness

      What the AI does

The model was trained on sharp/blurred pairs and reconstructs the blur trajectory, bringing back crisp edges, textures and fine detail. Resolution stays the same — you get the same frame, only sharp.

      Good to know

It removes blur, it does not invent detail

The model recovers what the blur is hiding rather than making things up. The result is honest, but very heavy blur has a limit.

      Resolution stays the same

The frame keeps its size. If you need it bigger, run the upscale tool afterwards.

      Best on motion blur

Camera-shake blur clears up noticeably better than a hard focus miss. A completely lost focus cannot be recovered.

      How to use it

      1. Drag your blurry photo into the upload area
      2. Click "Unblur"
      3. In 3-15 seconds you get a sharp JPG
      4. Optionally tweak brightness and color with the sliders

      FAQ

      Will it fix any blur?

It works best on motion blur and slight soft focus. If focus is completely gone or the blur is extreme, the detail simply is not there — the AI will not invent it dishonestly.

      Will the file get bigger?

No. Resolution is unchanged; the frame keeps its size and just becomes sharp. If you need it larger, use the upscale tool.

Is this the same as a Sharpen filter?

No. A regular sharpen just boosts edge contrast and exaggerates noise. Here an AI model actually reconstructs the shape of the blurred detail.

      Any limits?

10 photos per minute, 60 per day per IP. Up to 25 MB, up to 3000 px on the long side. Larger images are downscaled automatically.

      Where do my photos go?

Processing runs on our own hardware, not a public cloud. The original is not stored on the server.

How to get the best result

      • The tool handles moderate motion blur and mild defocus. If facial features or letters are unreadable in the original, there is nothing to recover: the model will paint something in, but it will not guess right.
      • Upload the original at full size. A screenshot or a messenger download has already lost the detail the algorithm relies on.
      • Crop to the main subject: margins, background and empty areas are processed too, they eat the model's capacity and add noise along the edges.
      • Do not sharpen before processing. Deblur first, and only then sharpen or upscale if needed.
      • Noise and blur are fixed differently. A grainy night shot is better run through photo restoration first, not deblur.

If the result looks plastic, the blur was too strong: try a tighter crop or another frame from the series.
