      Which formats are supported

We accept as input: JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, HEIC, GIF, TIFF, BMP. We convert to any of these same formats (except HEIC as output, its support varies across sites).

      Which format for what

      JPG

Universal, supported everywhere. Ideal for photos with lots of tones. No transparency support. Medium file size.

      PNG

Ideal for screenshots, icons, graphics with sharp edges, and when you need transparency. Heavier than JPG, especially for photos.

      WebP

A modern format. 25-35% smaller than JPG/PNG at the same quality. Supports transparency. Supported in all modern browsers.

      AVIF

The most efficient widely supported format. 30% lighter than WebP. Supported by all browsers since 2023. Recommended for future-proof websites.

      HEIC

Apple format that the iPhone shoots in by default. Not supported directly on Windows or most marketplaces, so it usually needs converting.

      TIFF

A professional format for print and archiving. Lossless. Heavy, but ideal when quality matters and there is no size limit.

      GIF

For animations (we do not support multi-frame) and simple graphics. 256 colors.

      BMP

A very old Windows format. No compression. Rarely used today.

      How to use it

      1. Drag a photo into the upload area
      2. Choose the output format
      3. Tweak quality if needed (for JPG, WebP, AVIF)
      4. Click Convert

      FAQ

      Is quality lost?

For lossless → lossless conversions (PNG → BMP, TIFF → PNG), no. For lossless → lossy (PNG → JPG) and lossy → lossy (JPG → WebP), yes, controlled by the quality setting. For lossy → lossless (JPG → PNG), the original JPG losses are preserved.

      Is transparency preserved?

When converting to JPG, no (JPG has no alpha, transparent pixels turn white). To PNG, WebP, AVIF, TIFF, BMP, GIF, it is preserved.

      Animated GIF/WebP?

For now we process only the first frame. Multi-frame animation is on the roadmap, not supported yet.

      Limits?

Up to 25 MB per file, 30 files per minute, 200 per day per IP.
