How to blur a photo background
- Upload a photo: drop it into the upload area or choose a file.
- Say what the main subject is: a person or an object. This decides how the neural network looks for the subject outline.
- Pick a blur strength: light, medium or strong.
- Click "Blur background". When processing finishes, a preview of the result appears.
- Compare before and after by dragging the line across the picture. Switch the blur strength if needed: the result changes at once.

How do I blur the background of a photo online?
Upload a photo, choose "Person" or "Object" and a blur strength, then click "Blur background". The tool finds the subject, keeps it sharp and blurs everything else. Nothing to install: it works in the browser on a computer and on a phone.
What is the difference between "Person" and "Object"?
These are two different subject detection models. "Person" is tuned for portraits: it handles hair, shoulders and clothing better. "Object" suits products, devices, food, animals and any scene without people. If the subject outline came out inaccurate, try the other mode.
Which blur strength should I choose?
"Light" softens the background slightly, details stay recognizable. "Medium" gives the familiar portrait look. "Strong" turns the background into large patches of color and helps when the background is distracting. You can switch the strength after processing and compare the versions.
Do I need to process the photo again to change the blur strength?
No. All three versions are prepared in a single run, so switching the strength just swaps the picture. A new run is needed only for another photo or another "what is in the photo" mode.
Why is there no glowing fringe around the subject?
When the whole frame is simply blurred, the subject's color spreads into the background and creates a halo. Here the background is first built without the subject: only background pixels are used. Then the sharp subject is placed on top, and its edge is softened slightly so the transition looks natural.
Which files can I upload and what do I get?
JPG, PNG and WebP up to 25 MB, from 100×100 to 8000×8000 px, one file at a time. The result is saved as JPG at the original size; frames larger than 4096 px on the long side are reduced to 4096 px. Transparent areas of PNG and WebP are filled with white.
What if the subject was selected inaccurately?
Switch the "what is in the photo" mode and process the frame again. Subjects that clearly differ from the background in color and sharpness are selected best. Thin strands of hair, fur and clear glass are the hardest cases: some of these details may end up blurred.
How much does it cost and what is free?
Without payment: processing and viewing the result, that is a reduced preview with a watermark for all three blur versions. No sign-up needed. Paid: the full-size file without a watermark, $0.99 per photo. A pack is cheaper: $0.18 per photo in a pack of 20 photos. Free processing has a daily limit shared by the site's neural network tools. Where are photos processed and how long are they kept?
Processing runs on our own hardware. The result is kept for up to a day so that you can collect it after payment.
